What We Do

Currently we, as a NGO are operating a full volume Child Development Center or CDC under the wing of Society for Welfare of Children at BB-1, Sector 1, Saltlake City. Kolkata - 700064 where we are providing range of medical therapies for children suffering from multiple disabilities and special needs, such as Autism, Down Syndrome, ADHD, Global developmental delay, ASD, Cortical visual impairment, Low vision, Squint, Ambylopia and Learning disability etc. The therapies are provided here under expert developmental pediatricians.

While our CDC unit is exclusively for children, this OPD is the extension unit that concentrates on all age groups. This unit has the best services available for all the ages. Moreover it has its own counseling unit with finest infrastructure and technology. Clinical psychologists provide healing solution for all the psychological dilemmas. This is certainly the one stop solution for all kind of physical and psychological issues.

The Center, opened on 12th December, 2004, is run by our Society at Dumurdaha, in a rural area of Hooghly District with the help and guidance of Hooghly Institute of Technology, Govt. of West Bengal and the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Govt. of India. This vocational training and rehabilitation center had the following units - Manipur Tant manufacturing, Soft toy making, Computer training center, Beautician course training centre and course of Jute diversified products (in collaboration with National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development or NABARD). On successful completion of the course these rural women were able to find fair means of livelihood. Some of the Products made by the trainees were exhibited in stalls sponsored by NABARD at Dilli Hatt, New Delhi and Saras Mela at Salt Lake.Currently SFWOC is running a vocational training centre under same banner at Kestopur, adjacent V.I.P, Kolkata.

This Institute was established by the Society in the year 2001 at Udaynaryanpur - a remote village in Howrah. About 79 mentally challenged children received specialized education and training by seven qualified and experienced teachers/ trainers. These children were also offered free Mid-day meal, transportation and two sets of new garments every year. Our organization is currently facing lot of difficulties to run this institute, due to financial obstacles. Our organization has about 10 kattah’s (702.73 Sqm.) of registered land in the area but due to lack of financial resources, infrastructural development is not being possible. However we are still hopeful and planning to operate from the same location with a full fledged school and an integrated vocational training center for which we are seeking financial support from likeminded benevolent organizations / persons.

Knowledge on this issue is very much restricted & therefore holding of special medical camps for Identification, certifications and Registration for distribution of Aids & Appliances to person with disabilities is of paramount Importance to our society and therefore our society has given top most priority to this task. Numbers of such camps have been held in collaboration with state commissioner for the person with Disabilities, West Bengal, NIOH Govt. of India and other connected agencies from time to time
